At the Drawing Board

A dear friend of mine came to the studio before the holidays with a clear vision of the ring she wanted. She was inspired by my scroll design, but wanted something that would focus on the swirl elements of the ring and taper off in the back for a more comfortable wear.

In order to accomplish this, I began the design on paper; researching the mathematics and aesthetics of swirls to create the visual balance and dynamism I wanted to give to her ring. Once the sketch was completed I began carving out the shapes in wax to build the design.

With a final review from my client and fitting to check for size, the ring was cast in Platinum! After casting was completed, I refined and polished the ring by hand and set 13 sapphires among the swirling shapes.
