Re-Imagining an Antique Heirloom

Re-Imagining an Antique Heirloom

For this fun and challenging project, our client hoped to create a ring that would embody a cherished family heirloom. For the center stone, she wanted deep dark red and Stacey suggested a Mozambique red garnet.
Stacey worked from photos provided by our client and carved out the design by hand in wax. She wanted to capture the unique crown-like vintage setting of the original design, but create a more secure and well defined design.
The flowing vine pattern was achieved using a hand engraved deep relief technique. The upraised vine motif running along the sides of the ring create interest all the way around.  The leaves stand out in the foreground with a smooth high polish against the stippled texture created in the background. With two diamond accents on each side, this ring has it all - stunning design, wearability and sparkle!
