Everlasting Love and Devotion

"My love story does not start with me but with my parents. My parents met while my dad was in college, and my mom was a local “townie” in a small VT community. My mom was from a small town, and my dad was from the other side of the state. They met, fell in love, and got married. My mom was a war bride and was pregnant with my older brother when my dad left for Europe and was gone for over a year. My parents were very devoted to each other and were happily married for over 60 years.

My dad was not very creative when it came to giving gifts! He tended to repeat himself with ideas. If my mom got a gold chain for Christmas one year, she would get a gold chain the next. If she got earrings or a watch for a birthday- guess what? She would get a repeat, albeit different the following year. It didn’t matter, she loved getting them, and he loved giving them to her. It is with these gifts that I was able to reconfigure a necklace and earrings with the help of Stacey. The gals were great in helping me decide on a setting and selecting the stones to place in the necklace.

It was a happy mistake that the three sapphires ended up in the necklace, but they work beautifully with the diamonds. The earrings started with a pair of bird earrings that were from Bermuda, where my parents had spent an anniversary celebration. We incorporated them into a pair of hoop earrings with an opal on each one. The pieces remind me of my parents and their everlasting love and devotion to each other. Thanks, Stacey, for a terrific experience."
